We accept volunteers at Chaparri to help with conservation, community activities and the day to day running of the reserve. Volunteers must stay a minimum of two weeks and be committed to working 6 days a week during that time. Volunteers pay a fee for use of the facilities in the reserve and can buy and cook their own food or arrange for someone to cook for them or arrange to eat with the park guards by contributing to food costs etc. All volunteer visits must be well coordinated beforehand with a workplan developed for their stay.

We are currently seeking volunteers to help with:

Teaching English to community guides and park guards,
Developing new tourist routes in the reserve,
Setting up wildlife monitoring protocols,
Wildlife surveys in other areas,
The Andean Bear Ecological Study (bear capture experience would be very useful),
To produce species baseline studies of the following taxa: Plants, Invertebrates, Bats and Small Mammals,
Developing the new management plan,
Mapping the core area of the reserve.
